Why should I employ an interior designer for my project?
Employing an interior designer for your project can offer several advantages, making the investment worthwhile. Go to my blog here and find out my top 10 reasons why you should not hesitate to get me involved from the outset, or go here if you are thinking of renovating and going to an architect first. This blog will show you why you should start with an interior designer.
How much does an interior designer cost?
The cost of an interior designer can vary depending on your project, your goals, and the level of support you need. Here’s a simple way to think about it, so you can work out whether it’s the right fit for you.
Your budget
Start by looking at your overall renovation or room budget and see what you can comfortably allocate to design. Even a small allowance can make a big difference to the end result.
Scope of the project
A quick consultation or a single-room tweak will naturally cost less than a full home redesign or renovation. Bigger or more complex projects require more time, drawings, joinery details, and coordination.
The value we bring
A designer doesn’t just “choose cushions.” You’re paying for clarity, expertise and risk-reduction. Good design prevents expensive mistakes, uses your budget more efficiently, and unlocks ideas you simply wouldn’t get on your own. Trade discounts often help balance the fee too.
DIY vs professional support
If you’re hands-on and have the time, you may prefer to take on parts of the project yourself. Just be aware that DIY mistakes can be costly to correct. Many clients use us for the areas where they feel less confident: lighting; joinery design; spatial flow; colour schemes; etc. Our hourly rate is £110, so you can dip in and out as you need. Or we can come up with a fee based on what you need us for, which can be cheaper than paying for an hourly rate.
Prioritising what you actually need
You don’t have to commit to full-service design. Lots of clients work with us on specific elements: a media wall, a lighting plan, space planning or a one-off consultation to set them in the right direction. It’s completely flexible depending on your home and your budget.
Trade discounts
We have access to a wide range of trade suppliers, so you’ll often benefit from discounts on furniture, materials and accessories, which can offset part of the design fee.
Think long-term
A considered design nearly always adds value, whether that’s increasing your home’s resale potential or simply making it far more enjoyable to live in. You can also use our Return on Investment Calculator to see how much value good design can add.
Want a benchmark?
Have a look at the Pricing page, which shows the fees we’ve charged for different types of projects. Every home is unique, so it’s there to give you a general feel rather than a direct comparison.

Not sure where to start?
The easiest thing to do is simply book in a free clarity call for a no-obligation chat. I’m always happy to talk through what you’re planning and help you understand what level of design support — if any — makes sense for you.
What is the process for the interior design of my project?
See here a link to explain all the stages within the process of bringing your project to life.
Do you charge to come for an onsite consultation even if we are not sure yet if we want to take on a designer?
If you are unsure whether you want to even work with a designer yet, then I would suggest the best thing to do would be to just contact us so we can have a quick chat over the phone.
Please go to the Contact page for more information. If however, you feel that is likely and you know your budget for the project, then the best approach would be to book in a Clarity Call here, which is free of charge so we can explain the next steps. At Rodrigues Interiors we don’t jump into design, but we do a full research and analysis exercise first which is crucial to laying the foundations for a great design that comes later.
We believe this stage is so important that we will not go ahead with any design until this has been carried out. Please find more details about our pre-design stage at The Cornerstone™.
How long will the design stage take?
This very much depends on how large and complicated the project is. At Rodrigues Interiors we make every effort to ensure the design is with you as soon as possible, however, it is a very important stage and time taken at this point will reflect in a more successful design. On presentation of a design you will have all the samples needed to be able to visualise the end design and often these can take a bit of time to arrive. During each stage of the design we always keep in contact with our clients so you are always informed as to the progress.
Why should I choose Rodrigues Interiors as my designer rather than anyone else?
We put you at the centre of our world. As a small, independent studio, we limit the number of projects we undertake to ensure that you receive our undivided attention. Our commitment to excellence is backed by our credentials: we’re fully qualified in Interior Design from the prestigious KLC School of Design and are proud members of the British Institute of Interior Design, adhering strictly to their Code of Conduct.
We understand that the decision to hire an interior designer is significant. While there is an investment involved, the value we bring is immeasurable. Our expertise ensures that your project is executed flawlessly the first time around, saving you from costly design errors and unnecessary stress.
Our portfolio shows the quality of our work – they may not be the designs for you, but that is the point! These projects were perfect for those clients. Your design will be what best suits you, tailored for you in every way. Our philosophy at Rodrigues Interiors is to create something unique and stunning for each and every client. Please see our testimonials here which show how delighted our clients have been with our service.
Who will buy the fixtures, furnishings and equipment that I will need?
We will buy everything for you but you will be billed in advance. The cost will include a 20% procurement fee on the trade prices of the goods and any trade discounts will be passed onto you in full. You will have none of the hassle of endless researching of items, ordering, liaising with suppliers and so on. We will do all that for you. For large projects we can arrange for storage until everything is ready to be delivered in one hit. This will incur further charges which can be discussed at the time
