How It Works - The Process

Pleased To Meet You!

An initial mini meet-up face to face or via zoom is the best way for us to introduce ourselves to each other.

It is a great opportunity for you to show us the potential spaces that you are thinking of designing and give us an overview of your requirements, so that we can see how we can fit into that.

At this meeting we can further discuss the process, to what extent you want us involved, and answer any queries that you may be having at this stage. If, after this meeting, you are happy to continue we will next book an appointment to take the brief in more detail.

Let’s Get Down to Detail – Taking the Brief

This is one of the most important aspects of the design process! All of those involved in the decision making should be present at the meeting to ensure that everyone has their input, and is taken into account. This is your opportunity to discuss all of your desires and aspirations for your home in detail. We will discuss the style you are interested in, the mood or atmosphere that you want to create, colour (of course), as well as existing furnishings to be included in the design, or a list of new pieces you want procured.

We will talk about finishes for walls, floors – even ceilings! We will discuss lighting options as well as window treatments. Yes – it all sounds quite involved but, remember, this is to take all the weight off your shoulders down the line. It may be that you have very specific ideas about the design already, or alternatively you may be very open to any design direction.

The most important thing is that we will be looking for clues to your personality that will be vital to bringing your scheme to life and that it is unique to yourselves. At Rodrigues Interiors no two clients get the same design!

We will discuss aspects, such as scope of work, so that we have a clear idea of the extent to which you want us involved, and not forgetting, timescales and budget.

The whole meeting should take around 3 hours and is chargeable at £300. This is then deducted from the final design fee should you decide to go ahead with us on your design journey.

After this meeting we will get started straightaway on working through the brief and putting together a fee.

Fee Proposal

You will receive this as soon as possible after taking the brief, so that you will have all the information you need to make the decision on what you want to do next. Within the proposal will be the scope of works – this will be based on what was discussed at the brief.

You may only want our input until handing over the design, or you may want us to procure all of the Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) for you, or to project co-ordinate at the building stages. The fee proposal will also detail our availability schedule and estimated start date, fee, terms and conditions, and contract.

What Happens Next - What we do

Measured Survey

We will attend site to carry out a full measured survey so that the spaces can be accurately drawn up. This could take several hours depending on the spaces required.

Concept/Layout

After extensive design analysis of the brief we will come up with a concept – a series of inspirational images that will inform the mood, style, and design direction. Optional room layouts will be checked with you at this stage, for your approval.

Sourcing

After this, extensive sourcing is carried out – mostly with trade suppliers – on materials, finishes, and all of your FF&E requirements. Further drawings will be drafted along with a photo render ( if required) of what your space will look like.

Lighting Design

This is a major part of the design as it significantly impacts on the mood and can really make a design shine. After initial analysis, we will draft a lighting plan, along with a specification and schedule.

Window Treatments/Soft furnishings

Textiles and texture! Either patterned or plain – these give your space vitality, warmth, and interest. Drawings will be made and specifications drawn up.

Handing over the Design

An exciting, highly anticipated, moment – your design is here! A meeting is arranged to finally show you what your design will look like, and to approve the entire design!
