The Client Brief for this Master Bedroom
The client’s goal for this compact master bedroom was to create a serene, well-ordered sanctuary without compromising on elegance or comfort. With limited floor space, storage was a priority, but the client was keen to avoid crowding the room with bulky furniture. Everything needed to feel streamlined, considered, and purpose-built.
They wanted a soft, calming aesthetic with thoughtful lighting and texture – something beautiful to wake up in and relax in at the end of the day. The design had to make the most of the room’s dimensions while still feeling luxurious and inviting. The client also asked for a cohesive design where every element, from wardrobe joinery to curtains and artwork, felt curated and cohesive.
Lighting was especially important: functional, ambient, and atmospheric solutions were needed without taking up surface space. Finally, the client wanted a balance between practical requirements and a soothing, high-end look that made the bedroom feel like a boutique hotel retreat, tailored to their lifestyle and taste.

The key challenge here was to eliminate the need for excessive furniture, maximising the use of every inch while maintaining a sense of calm and visual openness. Bespoke, floor-to-ceiling wardrobes were designed to provide ample storage, with internal organisation solutions tailored to the client’s needs. Their sleek design ensured that no additional bedroom furniture was required, resulting in a clutter-free, streamlined layout that still feels warm and personal.
A luxurious storage bed was introduced to offer discreet, easily accessible space beneath the mattress, ideal for seasonal items or linens. The upholstered finish adds softness and comfort, while complementing the bespoke wardrobe design and tonal palette. Storage in the arms of the base negated the need for bedside tables, keeping clutter to a minimum.
Lighting played a central role in the success of this master bedroom. Rather than using traditional bedside lamps, elegant circular glass pendant globes were suspended above each side of the bed, creating a soft, flattering glow and freeing up valuable surface area. LED backlighting was integrated into the wall art to highlight texture and form, while the bedroom mirror was framed with gentle illumination, adding both functionality and mood-setting elegance.
Textiles were chosen with equal care. Full-length blackout linen curtains provided both luxury and practicality, offering restful sleep and softening the edges of the room. A bespoke bedroom rug, inspired by the full moon’s circular form and the colours of the mural wallpaper behind the bed, grounds the space with texture and tone.
The result is a master bedroom that feels peaceful, purposeful, and beautifully finished. Every element is tailored to suit the client’s lifestyle, proving that small spaces can still be luxurious, stylish, and deeply comfortable. The clients were delighted with the transformation – a testament to the power of thoughtful, intelligent design.
