The Client Brief for this Master Bedroom
The client’s vision for this master bedroom suite was clear: to create an elegant, luxurious, and deeply personal retreat that offered both visual beauty and daily practicality. The space needed to exude comfort and quiet sophistication while also functioning effortlessly for modern living.
A key request was to incorporate cherished existing pieces, particularly a vintage sideboard with sentimental value, into the design in a meaningful way. The client wanted this space to feel thoughtfully layered, with character and warmth, avoiding anything that felt too sterile or over-styled.
Textiles and finishes were to be rich and tactile, with a subtle palette that evoked calm, but also included warm, romantic tones. A statement bed was high on the wish list, as was integrated, easy-to-navigate storage in the walk-in wardrobe. Lighting was to be soft, ambient, and flattering, ideal for unwinding in the evenings or gently waking up on a slower morning.
The architectural feature of the dramatic ceiling angles were to be celebrated, not concealed and the flooring was to be warm and beautifully crafted. Overall, the room had to feel timeless, graceful, and indulgent, with a strong sense of comfort and belonging.
The Design Thinking Behind this Master Bedroom
At the heart of this luxurious master bedroom suite lies a beautifully restored vintage sideboard, lovingly reimagined as the centrepiece of the vanity area. This treasured heirloom, rich in history and character, has been seamlessly integrated into the scheme, its elegant lines and craftsmanship enhanced by the backdrop of an artistic wallcovering that brings texture and depth to the space. Carefully curated artwork in this area, adds a personal and expressive layer, turning it all into a more than just a practical zone. It becomes a moment of pause and beauty.
The design draws heavily on a warm, earthy palette, with Desert Rose tones and gentle off-whites softly enveloping the space. These hues elegantly accentuate the dramatic rooflines, turning what could have been a design challenge into one of the suite’s most celebrated features. The angular ceiling now reads as a bold architectural statement, catching the light throughout the day and adding a sense of sculptural drama to the room.
A bespoke super king bed, upholstered in a blend of plush velvet and silk, commands the space with quiet opulence. Its tactile richness is echoed in the selection of layered cushions and textiles, which add softness and subtle contrast. The bed’s luxurious proportions are balanced by simplicity elsewhere. Every design decision made to avoid overcrowding the luxurious master bedroom suite’s generous layout.
One of the most impactful styling choices was the decision not to introduce a rug. The exquisite herringbone flooring was simply too beautiful to obscure. Its finely detailed pattern adds a sense of movement and craftsmanship that anchors the entire room. This stunning timber detail flows seamlessly into the adjoining walk-in wardrobe, unifying the suite with elegance and cohesion.
Within the wardrobe, open shelving and soft-close drawers were designed to bring a sense of calm order and effortless accessibility. Every storage element was considered for real-life use, offering space for daily dressing rituals without sacrificing the serene ambience of the room. Even in this functional space, finishes and lighting were chosen with equal care, maintaining the same level of refinement and visual calm.
Subtle, layered lighting schemes allow the mood to shift effortlessly from energising morning brightness to soft, ambient glow in the evening, creating a master bedroom suite that works beautifully across every hour of the day. The result is a room that’s not only deeply comfortable and inviting, but also inherently personal – layered with story, purpose, and grace.
